Jonathan Papelbon Entrance Song
What was Jonathan Papelbon's entrance song?
Jonathan Papelbon's entrance song was "I'm Shipping Up to Boston" by Dropkick Murphys with the Boston Red Sox during his 2005–2016 career. Jonathan Papelbon charged in from the Fenway Park bullpen to the Dropkick Murphys' “I'm Shipping Up to Boston” during the 2007 title run; the band later said he couldn't keep using the Boston anthem after he left for Philadelphia.
Fenway Park has the most participatory music tradition in baseball. For more on the Red Sox' walkup tradition and current roster picks, see the Boston Red Sox walkup page.
Set up a Papelbon-style walkup for your team
Want a kid on your team to come to the plate (or jog in from the bullpen) like Papelbon? It takes about a minute in Walkup Pro:
- Add the player to your roster
- Search "I'm Shipping Up to Boston" by Dropkick Murphys and assign it
- Set a custom trim so the best 15–20 seconds plays — for "I'm Shipping Up to Boston" that's usually the hook, not the intro
- Connect a Bluetooth speaker at the field and tap to play on game day
